Guide to Universal Skills




These skills are available to all players of ESO independent of class or equipment and without the purchase of a DLC:



It should be noted that values shown below reflect the ability and/or morph once it is fully trained which sometimes differs from earlier costs, durations, or damage values. All costs and damage values here are without attribute points placed, without equipment, without passive skills acquired or active skills slotted and without champion points spent to make it easier to compare skills regardless of gear/build differences.

Since Mundus buffs can be changed but not removed, either no mundus buff was in place (template character on PTS) or the Lover mundus (which only alters penetration) was used.

Remember that if a skill costs Magicka, it scales with your maximum Magicka (and Spell Damage) while if a skill costs Stamina, it scales with your maximum Stamina (and Weapon Damage). Ultimate abilities and Synergies scale with the combination that provides you with the best offensive stats.




Soul Magic Skill Line

Soul Magic levels are gained by progressing through the Main Story (at the Harborage)

1 Soul Trap
Range: 28 meters
Deal 655 Magic Damage over 10 seconds to the target and one other enemy within 5 meters. Fills an empty Soul Gem if an affected enemy dies within 8 seconds. 2700 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Soul Splitting Trap Affects an additional target. 2700 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Consuming Trap Also restores 7% of your Max Health, Magicka, and Stamina if an affected enemy dies within 8 seconds. 2700 Magicka
2 Soul Shatter If a Soul Magic ability is slotted, your soul explodes to deal 437 Magic Damage to nearby enemies when your Health drops below 20%. (cooldown: 2 minutes) Passive
2 Soul Summons Can revive once every 2 hours without spending a Soul Gem. Passive
3 Soul Lock Killing an enemy with a Weapon ability has a 5% chance to automatically fill an empty Soul Gem. Passive
3 Soul Summons II Can revive once per hour without spending a Soul Gem. Passive
4 Soul Shatter II If a Soul Magic ability is slotted, your soul explodes to deal 874 Magic Damage to nearby enemies when your Health drops below 20%. (cooldown: 2 minutes) Passive
5 Soul Lock II Killing an enemy with a Weapon ability has a 10% chance to automatically fill an empty Soul Gem. Passive
6 Soul Strike
Range: 28 meters
Deals 4254 Magic Damage over 2.5 seconds and reduces Movement Speed by 70%. (channel time: 2.9 seconds) 100 Ultimate
Morph Option 1 Soul Assault Increases to 5832 Magic Damage over 3.5 seconds and also reveals any enemies affected who then may not Stealth or use Invisibility for 2 seconds. 100 Ultimate
Morph Option 2 Shatter Soul If a target is killed, it explodes for 1352 Magic Damage to nearby enemies. Also reveals any enemies affected who then may not Stealth or use Invisibility for 2 seconds. 100 Ultimate



Fighters Guild Skill Line

Fighters Guild levels are gained by destroying dark anchors as well as killing undead & daedra

1 Intimidating Presence Allows you to Intimidate NPCs in conversation and reduces the Stamina cost of Fighter's Guild abilities by 15%. Passive
2 Silver Bolts
(range: 28 meters)
Deals 660 Physical Damage and reduces Movement Speed by 40% for 4 seconds. 3510 Stamina
Morph Option 1 Silver Shards
(radius: 5 meters)
Also fires up to 5 additional bolts at other enemies near the target, each doing 47% less damage. 3510 Stamina
Morph Option 2 Silver Leash
(range: 22 meters)
Instead fires a shorter range but more deadly bolt that deals 678 Physical Damage before pulling the target to you. 3510 Stamina
3 Slayer Increases Weapon Damage and Spell Damage by 1% for each Fighters Guild ability slotted. Passive
4 Circle of Protection
(radius: 5 meters)
Grants you & your allies within the circle Minor Protection and Minor Endurance for 20 seconds. 7987 Stamina
Morph Option 1 Turn Undead The circle now lasts for 24 seconds and its arrival also causes Daedra, Undead, & Werewolves Fear for the first 5 seconds. 7987 Stamina
Morph Option 2 Ring of Preservation Also reduces the cost of Roll Dodge by 20%. 7717 Stamina
5 Banish the Wicked Killing Undead, Daedra, or a Werewolf grants 3 Ultimate. Passive
6 Expert Hunter
(radius: 6 meters)
While slotted, gain Major Savagery. Activate to detect stealthed & invisible enemies within 6 8 meters for 5 seconds (exposed enemies cannot return to stealth/invisbility for 3 4 seconds). 5400 Stamina
Morph Option 1 Evil Hunter
(radius: 12 meters)
Also reduces the cost of Fighters Guild abilities by 28% while active. 5400 Stamina
Morph Option 2 Camouflaged Hunter While slotted, also gain Minor Berserk for 8 seconds after dealing Critical Damage from Sneak. 5400 Stamina
6 Slayer II Increases Weapon Damage and Spell Damage by 2% for each Fighters Guild ability slotted. Passive
7 Slayer III Increases Weapon Damage and Spell Damage by 3% for each Fighters Guild ability slotted. Passive
7 Skilled Tracker Fighters Guild abilities deal an additional 20% damage to Undead, Daedra, and Werewolves 10% damage against player Werewolves & Vampires. Passive
8 Trap Beast
(radius: 2.5 meters)
A trap at your location takes 1.5 seconds to arm then lasts for 60 seconds 15 seconds. When triggered, the trap deals 397 Physical Damage instantly and 1056 Physical Damage over 6 seconds as well as immobilizing the enemy for 6 seconds while granting you Minor Force. 3780 Stamina
Morph Option 1 Rearming Trap When triggered the trap deals less damage (278 Physical Damage instantly and 744 Physical Damage over 6 seconds) but will rearm to trigger a second time. 3780 Stamina
Morph Option 2 Lightweight Beast Trap
(range: 28 meters)
The trap can be tossed to a target location up to 28 meters away instead of only placed at your location. 3780 Stamina
9 Banish the Wicked II Killing Undead, Daedra, or a Werewolf grants 6 Ultimate. Passive
9 Bounty Hunter Allows you to accept bounty quests in Cyrodiil. Passive
10 Banish the Wicked III Killing Undead, Daedra, or a Werewolf grants 9 Ultimate. Passive
10 Dawnbreaker
(radius: 10 meters)
Meridia's undodgable sword deals 1029 Physical Damage instantly then 1191 Physical Damage over 6 seconds to enemies in front of you. 125 Ultimate
Morph Option 1 Flawless Dawnbreaker After activating, also increases Weapon Damage and Spell Damage by 300 for 20 seconds. 125 Ultimate
Morph Option 2 Dawnbreaker of Smiting Increases the damage to 1298 Physical Damage instantly and 1494 Physical Damage over 6 seconds. In addition, now also Stuns them for 2 seconds. 125 Ultimate



Mages Guild Skill Line

Mages Guild levels are gained by reading the purple-glowing lorebooks found scattered across Tamriel

2 Magelight
(radius: 6 8 meters)
While slotted, gain Major Prophecy. When activated, reveals stealthed & invisible nearby enemies for 5 seconds. Exposed enemies cannot return to stealth/invisibility for 3 4 seconds. 5400 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Inner Light Also increases Max Magicka by 5% while slotted. 5400 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Radiant Magelight
(radius: 12 meters)
Reduces the cost, enlarges the area of effect, and prevents the stun from stealth attacks for you & nearby allies. 3241 Magicka
3 Mage Adept Reduces the cost of Mages Guild abilities by 8% Passive
4 Entropy
(range: 28 meters)
Deals 721 Magic Damage over 12 seconds and heals you for 224 Health instantly and for 224 Health over 6 seconds. Also, grants you Major Sorcery for 20 seconds. 1620 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Degeneration While active, Light & Heavy Attacks have a 15% chance to heal you for 115% of the damage done. 1620 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Structured Entropy While slotted, also increases your Max Health by 8%. 1620 Magicka
5 Mage Adept II Reduces the cost of Mages Guild abilities by 15% Passive
5 Everlasting Magic Increases the duration of Mages Guild abilities by 10%. Passive
6 Fire Rune
(range: 28 meters,
radius: 3 meters)
After 2 seconds to arm, blasts enemies in the target area for 660 Flame Damage if triggered within 30 15 seconds. 4050 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Volcanic Rune They're also knocked into the air and Stunned for 4 seconds. 4050 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Scalding Rune Causes an additional 420 Flame Damage over 10 seconds. 4050 Magicka
7 Everlasting Magic II Increases the duration of Mages Guild abilities by 20%. Passive
7 Magicka Controller Increases Max Magicka & Magicka Recovery by 1% for each Mages Guild ability slotted. Passive
8 Equilibrium Exchange 6000 Health for 3000 Magicka but also reduces healing done and the strength of any damage shields by 50% for 4 seconds. 6000 Health
Morph Option 1 Spell Symmetry After the exchange, the cost of your next Magicka ability is reduced by 28% for 5 seconds. 6000 Health
Morph Option 2 Balance After the exchange, gain Major Resolve and Major Ward for 23 seconds. 6000 Health
9 Magicka Controller II Increases Max Magicka & Magicka Recovery by 2% for each Mages Guild ability slotted. Passive
9 Might of the Guild Casting a Mages Guild ability has a 50% chance to grant Empower for 5 seconds. Passive
10 Might of the Guild II Gain Empower for 5 seconds when casting a Mages Guild ability. Passive
10 Meteor
(radius: 5 meters,
range: 28 meters)
A comet strikes multiple enemies for 1437 Flame Damage, Knocks Them Back, and Stuns them for 2 seconds. They then suffer 460 Flame Damage every second for 10 seconds. 200 Ultimate
Morph Option 1 Ice Comet Instead of Flame Damage deals 1581 Frost Damage followed by 457 Frost Damage every second for 10 seconds. In addition to the knockback & stun, the strike also reduces Movement Speed by 50% for 8 seconds. 200 Ultimate
Morph Option 2 Shooting Star Also gain 12 Ultimate for each enemy hit by the intial blast. 200 Ultimate



Undaunted Skill Line

(NOTE: upon reaching character level 45 you will receive an Invitation to the Undaunted)

Gain Undaunted levels by completing daily Undaunted Pledges

1 Blood Altar
(radius: 28 meters)
After a 1.5 second cast time, conjure a fountain of blood (lasting 33 seconds) that applies Minor Lifesteal to enemies in the area.

Allies can activate the Blood Funnel synergy to heal for 40% of their Max Health.
4320 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Sanguine Altar Increases the duration to 46 seconds. 4320 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Overflowing Altar Increases the synergy's healing to 65% of Max Health. 4320 Magicka
2 Trapping Webs
(radius: 4 meters,
range: 28 meters)
Webs reduce enemy Movement Speed by 50% then explode after 5 seconds to cause 824 Poison Damage to those within.

Allies further than 12 meters away can activate the Spawn Broodlings synergy while targeting an enemy in the webs to deal 801 Poison Damge and summon 2 spiders for 15 seconds. The spiders inherit your bonuses to damage, scaling damage up from 238 Physical Damage every 2 seconds.
3511 Stamina
Morph Option 1 Shadow Silk Instead offers the Black Widows synergy, whereby each spider also has one poisonous bite that causes 954 Poison Damage over 10 seconds on top of their initial damage & regular bites as above. 3511 Stamina
Morph Option 2 Tangling Webs The Arachnophobia synergy in addition to the base effects of the Spawn Broodlings synergy also causes the enemy Fear for 4 seconds. 3511 Stamina
3 Inner Fire
(range: 28 meters)
Deals 410 Magic Damage and taunts the enemy to attack you for 15 seconds.

25% chance that allies targeting this enemy from more than 12 meters away can activate the Radiate Synergy, dealing 303 Magic Damage over 2 seconds then exploding for 982 Magic Damage to the target & nearby enemies.
4051 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Inner Rage Increases the chance to offer the Synergy to 38%. 4051 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Inner Beast Converts to a Stamina ability with 424 Physical Damage that taunts enemies to attack you. The Synergy is unchanged. 3443 Stamina
4 Bone Shield A whirlwind of bones absorbs damage equivalent to 30% of your Max Health for up to 6 seconds.

An ally can activate the Bone Wall synergy, which grants them & 3 other allies a shield absorbing damage of up to 50% of their Max Health for up to 6 seconds.
3780 Stamina
Morph Option 1 Spiked Bone Shield Also returns 33% of any direct damage absorbed back to melee attackers. 3780 Stamina
Morph Option 2 Bone Surge The Spinal Surge synergy also grants Major Vitality in addition to the damage shield. 3780 Stamina
5 Necrotic Orb
(radius: 8 meters)
As a globe slowly floats forward, it hits nearby enemies for 113 Magic Damage every second for 10 seconds.

Allies can activate the Combustion synergy, causing the globe to explode for 795 Magic Damage and restoring their larger resource pool with 3960 Magicka or 3960 Stamina.
4590 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Mystic Orb Increases the globe's ongoing damage to 134 Magic Damage every second for 10 seconds to nearby enemies. 4590 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Energy Orb Instead of harming enemies, the globe heals you & nearby allies for 119 Health every 0.5 seconds for 10 seconds.

The Combustion synergy's explosion now heals 795 Health to nearby allies instead of damaging enemies.

6 Undaunted Command Activating a Synergy restores 2% of your Max Health, Max Stamina, and Max Magicka. Passive
? Undaunted Command II Activating a Synergy restores 4% of your Max Health, Max Stamina, and Max Magicka. Passive
7 Undaunted Mettle Increases Max Health, Max Stamina, and Max Magicka by 1% for each weight of armor currently equipped (up to 3% if at least one piece of each armor weight is equipped). Passive
? Undaunted Mettle II Increases Max Health, Max Stamina, and Max Magicka by 2% for each weight of armor currently equipped (up to 6% if at least one piece of each armor weight is equipped). Passive
